Anyone know anything about duck decoys?

Apparently there is no such thing as a duck decoy collectors forum where I can ask my stupid newbie questions.  I received this beauty from my daughter as an early birthday present:

I am no expert but it appears to be a Mason (or other factory) Standard grade, tack-eye, Mallard that has been re-painted as a Pintail.  Probably dating from the 30s.  The wood is cedar.  If anyone has a better explanation I am all ears

Her name is "Olda" (yes I know its a drake, but I lost the argument with the toddler)

I once found a decoy duck on the banks of a river (obviously long abandoned) years ago, though it was a plastic thing, all I know about them is they're meant to have a counterweight underneath them to stop them tipping over in the water, looking at the pictures, yours had said weight, but it's long gone... :)

Dunno where my duck went, but it was back in the 90's anyway so looooooooong gone....  :D

I googled "antique duck decoy forum" and found many places where someone asks the same thing, mostly in duck hunting forums, but this one seems to get to the point.  If anybody knows, this guy would:  http://www.decoyinfo.com/

The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

Wow!  What a collection.  I guess everything you can think of is collected by someone.

My brother used to carve these when he was younger after taking a course in it. One day someone visited and offered $1000 for a mallard he had carved. We couldn't believe it!

Looks like he is too busy playing with his ducks to respond to e-mail!
