How do you fix a cracked post?

Have a very nice ivory 500 with some exterior darkening but also a cracked back mounting post. It's still well attached at the back to the shell but the front and sides are cracked as shown in the photos.

Any suggestions on how to fix this, the best way to fix it, etc? Does it matter if it's a functional fix and not a pretty fix since it is on the inside? I'm not far enough along to say if it's soft or hard plastic. It seems like hard plastic and the components are dated 1961.

Thanks.

Drop some drops of super glue into the cracks and push the parts together for a few minutes while the glue cures.  Super glue does wonders in these cases.

Thanks Larry,

I've read a lot of threads on the use of super glue but just wanted to make sure this was the best way to go before trying something that didn't work.

5-minute epoxy resin will also work, and provide a good solid bond. :)
