Does anybody have any tips on repairing Tenite? It is much more flexible than bakelite and I´m not sure what chemicals will adversely affect this material.

The older plastics were not very durable or hard, even Tenite. With black, you have a lot more latitude as to what you can use to fill in gouges or glue and fill cracks. I don't have much skill in the repair of any plastics but others here do. If it is a crack, I would not be afraid to fill it in with glue and then sand and polish and paint.
There was a collector who would use acrylic finger nail material and color it and fill that way. I once tried it on a piece of junk and I was not happy with my results, but I understand that a skilled person could have very good results with acrylics. They may not work, however on the older softer plastics.

You can never entirely get rid of cracks and deep gouges, but with Tenite, it's easy to sort out with nothing more advanced than superglue, there's some good threads on repairing soft plastics here:
