I just picked this large Bell up. Looking any information on it.
These were used as phone booth toppers ASFAIK. They were lit up from within and meant to be seen from a distance.

ASFAIK ??? I don't know what that means.
As far as I know....
AFAIK is correct acronym, no "S".
Thanks, I'm getting older and I don't understand the computer lingo. ;)
Your Bell was made by Gladwin Plastics. I am including pictures from their catalog ENJOY.
Up till now I thought I was the only one that had one of these bells that survived. I am glad someone else found one.
Here are pictures of the one I have with the mounting bracket.
More pics.
All the old Gladwin stuff is almost gone. It is rare. The catalog came from the Cincinnati Bell Phone Booth shop. I carried away all the paper material I could for this reason.
Thank you very much Jim, That information is awesome. Yours is in better shape.
I have 3 of the pieces from that catalogue.
Got around to installing a LED light in the large Bell globe today. It should look real good at night.
Nice! Looks great!
I see a framed photo of what appears to be a 57 Chevy & a license plate next to it that reads DUFS 57. Is or was that your car?
Yes, Harry that was my car. 1957 Oldsmobile Holiday 88 2 door hardtop. Sold it in 1997. I was the 3rd owner of the car.
Thanks for noticing.
Nice, even better looking than a common 57 Chevy!

Thanks Harry, They were faster too, for a 2 ton car. It had a 371 CID Rocket engine 4 barrel carb with a 3 speed automatic. :)
Nice!
We have a 2018 Camry in our shop today that has a 9 speed automatic transmission.
Technology progress?
I think this is a pretty rare find. Really cool. Mark
I bought a press release picture off eBay from 1958 showing the first Southwestern Bell Telephone Company drive up phone booth in Houston, TX.
It shows the same large lighted bell that I own. This picture will make a good addition to my lighted bell's history.
The picture finally arrived. It now helps me with the dating of my globe.
