Title: Hello from Italy!
Post by: Portilious on September 03, 2018, 05:53:20 AM
Hello everyone, I'm new here!
Started collecting rotary telephones two years ago when I was just 16 years old, I liked the look and the colors of these retro landline phone, my first phone is a yellow Siemens s62. (Not the one in the avatar, but similar).
I currently own, more or less, 30 landline phones. I buy them on local stores and rarely on the Internet. My collection is more based on the Italian phones and European ones in general, but I'm looking to get some "Intercontinental" phones too!
I'm more interested in the 60's-70's year since I like the design and colors of these landline phones, but I own some phones from the 30's to the 50's too. But again I'm not really fond about the bakelite phones.
I also collect old cellphones, computers, radios, etc...

Anyway, thank you people for letting me in this forum.  :)
-Daniel

Welcome to the forum Daniel.

It is good to have an other member here knowing about the old phone-plugs with 3 prongs  ;)

Best wishes from Norway

Welcome Daniel!

Even thought you seem to be a European phone collector, I'm sure you'll get enthusiastic about phones from our side of the pond, like many here have! :D

I have no doubt you'll fit in here! ;)

Yep, I would really like to get my hands on these international phones, but I don't have much money for the shipping costs!  :-\

My best option here is to find a european "clone" of an american phone.
Luckly for me, the Face Standard (basically Western Electric Italy) company made lots of re-branded american phones here! I have a clone Princess and Trimline phone, they're basically the same but with another name and brand. They even made a clone W.E. 500! I saw a clear plastic one in a store but it was too expensive to me to buy.
If I find one of these cheap, I'll surely buy it in a heartbeat!

Full price was 30€ then it was discounted into 15€.
Back then I wasn't really interested in these kind of phones,  I wasn't a fan of clear plastic phones too.
Now to think about it, I should have bought it. But I didn't estimated the value of that kind of phone, I was interested in other types.
