Unidentified Magneto Box? I found in a box lot of phone parts at auction

I purchased a box lot of antique phone parts and found this oak box at the bottom.  It is 6.5 X9.5 inches with a front bolt closure, three hinges and an eschuteon on the side.  It is marked 58 on the inside of the door and the inside edge. I am posting it because I thought the rounded front edge and flush closure, lack of backplate, and hole placement in side and back seemed unusual to me.  I have not learned much about wooden phones yet and can't find one like it on TCI. Any ideas on manufacturer and use? Could it be a decorative box someone was converting to a magneto housing or ringer?
