go to ebay and type western electric 500 and theree is a mohogany brown it is labeled 1970 model 500 bell system western electric telephoe hurry this is a good one iT does not have a handset though

He doesn't mention Brown, I think it's black. Those in brown came with clear plastic finger wheel. plus if it was refurbed in 1970, you can just about bet the shell was changed.
We've had more than a few black sets that look brown.
