Doug thats a nice setup.

However Babybearjs if you like to tinker and learn thats cool too.
Keep in mind sending amplified audio over the spare pairs is a code violation, (preamp or headphone out 'line level' audio is fine).
In the electrical code they prohibit audio amplifier output to be installed in the same cable or raceway with phone conductors or cables. [NEC reference section 640.9(C) and 725.139(F)]

I recently did a overhaul of a WE 106E speaker and got it working,
for fun I connected a old line level 'music on hold' (600 ohm audio transformer) to one of my intercom lines (bypassing the on hold part).
It can pipe audio over intercom to my the 106E and a 107AW speaker.
Also if you pick up any of the phones in my collection you here the audio.
Its fun to put the 'bbc world service' on as the speakers as they have old sound quality unlike modern speakers.

I understand that.... I have a MP3 player that I can setup in my system, but its nothing big... right now i have the little thing hooked up to some PC speakers on the porch, they seem to do the trick.
