It might not be a two line phone but an intermediate set, a more modern version of this style http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=23893.msg238337#msg238337
The 3 buttons would replace the 3-way switch. One for direct line access, one to switch the extension to the line, and one to allow ringing up the extension with the magneto and talk to it.
Most similar systems would use a DC ringer and battery though.

i had a similar one that came from Egypt. Looks like a Ericsson set or a copy

I did, hoping the advertised crack is not bad. I could not spot it in the pics. Such an interesting phone....Doug

Close up of the crack. A bit of work on it should tidy it up nicely.

I received the phone today in very nice condition.

I cannot remove the crank so I cannot open the phone.  :-[  Disappointing.

LM Ericsson elements so we know the manufacturer. Looks really nice with a Mr Clean bar and Brasso. Bakelite had a nice sheen to start. I can barely see the crack when looking for it and I do not want to risk any further damage.

For $30 and shipping I am very happy to have a really different telephone....Doug

I think that the cranks on many of those magnetos can be unscrewed by giving them a quick hard push in the counter-clockwise direction.

You would think removing the base plate you'd have access to the generator and be able to jam or hold it
from moving while turning the crank CCW and remove it but, I don't know anything about this particular phone.

Ah, that'll do it, and I assume that means that it's attached from the inside and not any of the screw heads showing on the outside of the base.
Well there's a solution in removing it, it's just finding it.

The actual crank is very slim. Would it work to remove just the handle (screw is visible) and then thread the upper housing over the crank?

A similar phone has been for sale on Leboncoin for a while. Interesting, but too expensive for me. As it did not sell, the seller changed the price (upwards...), can't find it now. It also had the same arabic dial and "plump" handset but was clearly labelled "LM Ericsson" between the plungers and came with the outside box.

Ericsson DBH 440x01CTP or 4003? That is all I could find.
