Finally got 'em. I've never owned a Western Electric 500 (remember I live in Automatic Electric territory). The closest I own is a 1972 black Stromberg-Carlson 500 I bought at a garage sale many moons ago.

BUT, now I've got (2) genuine Western Electric C/D 500's  :D

The "moss" green one is dated 2-60 on the base. The transmitter and receiver are dated from '57 and '58. Have not pulled it apart yet. Dial sounds like it is in bad need of cleaning and lube.

The "white" one is dated 5/74 on the base. Can't remember the rec'vr and xmitter build dates, but there both about '73 / '74.

Now your making me want a white one. :)

Nice 500's!

Grab your telephone,
Something just ain't right.

Those are some nice 500s, both are really good color choices to represent the mid century era.  I don't have a white and may have to get one!  That green is nice and dark, it should polish to a really nice shine, and the white is clean looking.

The white ones really are nice looking in person.  I was pretty impressed with mine when it arrived.  Good job, T&R!

WE 500 are hard to find here in the Philippines since AE80's are the standard telephones used by our service providers
