The Norwegian telco tried to keep their position, and made this nostalgic, new phone in 1984.

Probably more for show, and education, than interst of buying?

That's an interesting phone.  Our Bell System offered "retro" wood wall phones, too, in the 1980s.  They were popular in kitchens, but they were much more plain compared to this one.

They were made in different versions based on the same design, "plain wood", or decorated in traditional colors, with decorations from old chests etc. Hings and hook was made in wrought iron/forge iron. They were only made in a no of 2.500 in 1984 and 1985. The circuitry was fully electronic with a dynamic transmitter element.
The wooden parts were made by a furniture factory of good repute.
