I assume it was in the receiver end of the handset.

Jack

I mean.. i think it was, but it was under the mouthpiece, but that was on the opposite end from the wire, so i think that the handset caps were swapped at some point.

Does the element seem like it was made for the handset?
(meaning) Is it the proper height and diameter for a snug fit.
or, does it seem like someone used it as a close-enough replacement.

The nice finish on the receiver makes me think of a (exposed) headset or watchcase receiver. Does it appear to have any sort of mounts along the perimeter?
Jim

I typed the above  before your last reply.
Please take photos of both elements. Jack has gotten me curious

So, I was wondering if anyone knew a time period for it, because when I tell people about it I want them to know how old it is.

I have something like this in a 3 line. bought it years ago on ebay and love it. my unit was done in a golden oak and has 4 switches. tried to restore it to service but could never get the wiring right. put it away for another day and just enjoy having it. getting these things to work without any schematic to follow is the problem... having to go from memory, if that helps at all....
