Some of us are old enough to remember dialing up to America Online,  Prodigy and Compuserve.  Well a group of hobbyists have been working hard and have started to bring it back.  Keeping the services alive in some form or fashion for future generations.  Like us switch guys are.

The one for America Online is called Re-AOL-  Really cool group of peeps,  looking for peeps who have backups of their old AOL files

Here is the town hall video talking about the progress theyve made for AOL, and Prodigy.

Prodigy is also making a comeback with Prodigy Reloaded -  They too are looking for old installs of users that backed up their stuff.

And WebTV. Those old useless webtv boxes can be brought back to life.

Kind of cool stuff.  Hard to believe this is considered retro these days.  But such is life when time flies

When a PC was a couple of grand, WebTv was my first inroad to the internet.  Really something back then.

I picked up a nice one off ebay a while back,  got it connected to the webtv server, man i forgot how fun that was.   Its really cool to see these peeps preserve this kind of stuff.  Same with the weatherstar weather channel guys that do weather channel stuff.  and the guys who have restored prevue channel computers that were amigas and later PCs
