I am building a VoIP payphone controller and have yet to figure out 0+ calls.

I was going to include a SIP URI to toll free 800CALLATT but it was dropped a few years ago.

Following this post with interest!

I saw this thread and went and re-researched Alexa to find the following

Alexa on REAL Amazon devices supports

1) SURPRISE dialing phone numbers now in USA, Canada, Mexico and the UK

2) 'Unofficial" devices may not have full support

I resurrected an Alexa install on asterisk and tested.  Alexa says she can not dial on this device.

I researched further and found this post oddly enough right here in this forum.

Also however I read that Google's Voice recongnition is not that reliable. As much as I hate IncrediblePBX distros and Mr WM (talk about a wanker)  he is doing some integration with IBM speech recognition which Mr WM "claims" is better.

I do see these projects

asterisk speech recongnition (we only need numbers and a few key phrases

Amazon Alexa

or for Pi try here

Now Google Voice Assistant is also available
https://github.com/rgrokett/RaspiAsteriskGoogle

Here is how it might work.......

Non Dial Phone  (dials a default extension when taken off hook to access voice menus)

Main Voice Recognition (google or other )

"Dial Aunt Mary" (dials a number on Asterisk based on astridex phone book lookup)
"Dial 2125552368" (dials a number on Asterisk)
                                         "Dial 411" (dials 1800FREE411)
"Hey Google"  takes you to (dials) Google Voice Assistant
"Hey Alexa"   takes you to (dials) Alexa
"Hey Wolfram"   takes you to (dials) Wolfram Alpha

Now you have the best of all worlds working on a candlestick phone, just no idea how to transfer telemarketers to Lenny with no dial.

If you do not know what Lenny is. listen to lenny here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSoOrlh5i1k

We have both Google and Alexa (really like the screen on Alexa). Google's voice recognition is pretty good 99.9% of the time (they both are good), but issues may arise with 'dial barry' / 'dial harry', but adding a surname (for example) should clear that up.
