Here's a cord I found, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it's for.

Any help would be appreciated.

looks to be a 3 conductor cord and can be use for an f1 or an e1 handset or can be used for a mounting cord where needed, Gregg

Such cords (in black) was used here in Norway too, and they was much softer than modern cords.
