Well I guess that answers my question, the last 2 pictures also have the same stamp on both the ringer and the base. It seems to be normal. By the wat this is a nice looking phone although overpriced for my budget!

Jorge, I don't know.  Maybe Paul's site talks about this.  I haven't checked that.

I have two, one has the "A" stamp.  They were both more or less from my neck of the woods, and they were clean when I got them, I haven't done any cleaning or polishing on them.

The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

Good question :D
And whats up with the bias spring  ;D
And I have to amend what I stated earlier. I just checked 2 of my 302's that I can get to, 1 metal, 1 plastic and both are stamped in the base, both 48 and both have the "A" ::)

Invisagongs.  They were field tested right after the Roswell crash.  Used technology recovered at the crash site.  That's one rare phone you got there!

I got them both from the same source as a lot with some other phones.  My guess is they removed them to make it a non-ringing extension.

"Where, oh where have my little gongs gone?"

"Oh where, oh where could they be?"

"Now the ring's cut short, and but the cord's still long."

"Oh where, oh where can they be?"

Sounds like a good beer-drinking song, if I do say so myself.  Maybe we should make it the un-official forum anthem.

Only one of my phones had no gongs when I acquired it, a 1968 WE 1500.  Probably they drove someone nuts and they removed them.  On my 1984 WE 500, which I bought new, I found the ringer too loud and yet did not know anything about how to silence it by bending the stop tab back.  So I filled the gongs with tissue paper, that did the trick but it lost it's nice clear ring.

Sounds great to me.
