Greetings,
I recently bought a QSD3A post pay phone off eBay and I cannot get it to work. I have a working 685A subset wired up as indicated in the directions posted on the web but I cannot get dial tone to the handset. I'm wondering if my issue is the coin switch has been removed and I need to jumper a connection on the relay to get it to work. Attached are some pictures of what I have. I get dial tone on my test set if I connect to TR and Y on the contact switches but I can't get any further. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Brett

Assuming the coin switch has been removed and nothing else is wrong with the payphone try putting a jumper between SL and BKX on the transfer contact assembly.

Thanks for the links. I double checked my wiring several times and it still doesn't work. :'(

I was hoping that was the simple fix I needed Stan but I still can't get any dial tone. Is there anyway to test the relay or the handset?
Thanks,
Brett
Simple wavy to test the handset is connect one side of the mic to one side of the earpiece then hook the remaining side of each to a standard 9V battery. Speak into the mic you should hear yourself in the earpiece.
Correction. Simple way. Fat fingers small iPad.
