Columbia, SC old photos

I work in an old AT&T building in downtown Columbia, SC. On the top floor tucked away in a corner office is the Pioneer storage room. There is some historical info about Columbia stored there. Apparently Columbia was the second city in the U.S. to go to all dial service in 1922. First photo is a new central office built in 1920. The rest are apparently of a machine switching demonstration in 1922.

That dial the boy is sitting directly behind is very cool.
And I bet it worked, at least as far as the dial turning.

I think the dial is a 'dial demonstrator'. My guess is it is a working style dial .
Here are some more deluxe examples.
