Just stumbled across this contraption on eBay. What is the purpose of wiring a receiver to a lightning arrestor? This one has me slighlty confused!

I think they were thinking that someone would think it's cool and buy it. Like its a really neat old phone or something..
The CP is old and nice, but that's where the fascination ends as far as I'm concerned... I had several old protectors with my collection what ever I could find that was old.
