Fancy tops are cathedral tops  (CT), typically the taller the top the older the phone. Routing on the front door is called a picture frame front (PFFF). These are earlier features of wood phones.

The two box is even earlier and appears to be nice.


The pre 1900 phones are an entirely different breed. The best photo reference is Kate Dooners 1st book, also called Dooners yellow cover.
As you start studing phones you will subconciously start to realize the hallmarks of "really Early" Stuff.  If you seek, you will find.

Great pair of phones John, I really like the thick cord on the 554. I bet those are gonna clean up nicely. I like the price too  :)
