I was wondering if someone could help me out.  I was looking at a antique store and saw a 2 line/mushroom phone.  I think it was a mushroom.  The mushroom seems to be missing.  I really never seen one before.  I know some can be rare.  I took a pic with my phone.  I did not want to buy it.  I know nothing about them.  How much is to much is this condition?  Do they sale?  I guess I passed on it because it was missing the mushroom.  Any advice? Check out the pictures.  Thank you!

According to Paul F's website, it looks like a WE 514: http://paul-f.com/we514.htm.  I don't think that I have ever seen one of these in person.

If it was me,  I would RUN back the antique store and buy the phone.

Larry's right.  It should be marked 514 on the bottom.

(and follow the link for photos.)

Read the BSPs for details.  Most were installed without the optional indicator light.  It should have a red lens over it, like the 500Y.

The bottom of the phone seems newer than the phone and read at@t.  I opened the headset and the dates did not match (1961..1962).  The price on the phone was 55.00.  I thought it was a bit high, but maybe I was wrong?  I am reading and looking over the links you have posted...Thanks!

Seems a bit high, but that's where you can negotiate the price down... :)

The 514 has a two jacks on the back for the old style plug of a headset. The key is turned to ON to use the headset with the handset in the cradle. You can push down the key to get a new dial tone to make another call.

You learn something new!  I am always surprise when I see a phone and I never seen before.  Thanks for all the info!
