I have these two old round phones in my collection. I thought I would show them side by side to show their similarities. Left one is a Stromberg-Carlson with the North Dial. Right one is a Western Electric A1 with a #2 dial.

Two very desirable sets and very similar from the same time period. My SC set also has an older North dial, but unlike yours my dial is recessed like a dial in a 202. I have never seen a North dial like yours, is it self contained or is it sitting inside something that's sits on the base of the SC. Very different....Doug

Doug-The North dial is the little one. It sits on/in an adapter ring that makes it 3". The body of the phone is steel. I would like to see a picture of your phone for comparison.

Nice.  I need to get myself an A-1 one of these days.  Apparently not as rare as people once thought but a beauty nonetheless!
