Since I'm having so much trouble getting parts for my wall phone, I'm thinking of doing a gutt out. I recently picked up a WE desk phone with some rust, and, rotted rubber feet.
I'm thinking of pulling parts off that to repair my WE 554 wall phone. What do you guys think? I really want to hang up the wall phone on my bench in my main repair shop.

It depends if the donor phone is worth restoring. If it's pretty much beyond help, use the parts as long as they are relatively the same vintage. I try to keep things as close to how they were available as possible.
I wouldn't switch parts around, just for the sake of getting a phone working, made from mismatched parts.

I have a parts phone that gets robbed of this and that when needed.  Rotary wall phones are pretty cool, and worth getting up and going, I think that you will enjoy it.

I also done that on my AE80, since its hard to find parts here in the Phils
