Can anybody out there advise as to when the #2, #4, and #5 dials were introduced.

I believe Larry Wolff's book has that information, if anyone has access to it.  I have the book, but I will have to look for it.

Dates I have seen quoted are:

1919 - #1 (Jan), #2 (late)
1930 - #4 - some converted from #2
1937 - #5
1949 - #7
1952 - #6
1959 - #8
1963 - #9

Since the D-1 mounting was introduced in 1930, the 4-type dial was also 1930-

Just came across a 4H dated 430 (April 1930). It is not a converted 2-Type.
