PTT making a buzz now that I connected the G/Y for ring

I had to bridge the green and yellow to get the phone to ring.  The problem is, now it makes a slight buzz sound that it didnt before.  Is there something I can do to get rid of that, or is just the price to have a ringing phone???

It looks like your phone doesn't have all the wires connected according to the schematic:

The strap to make the ringer work should be between terminal 9 and 10.

It is.  Here's a closer pic.

OK, but the colors of the wires on your phone don't match with the schematic:

terminal 5 = red
terminal 6 = blue
terminal 7 =  yellow

terminal 9 = yellow = EW
terminal 10 = blue  =  B = L2  = ring
terminal 11 = red = A = L1 = tip
terminal 13 = green = earth

Here is a translation of the colors in the schematic:

rood = red
blauw = blue
geel = yellow
groen = green
zwart = black
grijs = grey

BTW does the phone still have the original plug connected to the line cord?

If yes, how are the wires connected inside the plug?

If no, how is the line connected to the phone?

Make sure the wires inside the phone are connected according to the schematic.

It doesnt have the original plug.  It has a modular with YGRB/clip side up.

As far as the diagram, if I follow it and trade the blue and green wires, all I get is a VERY loud buzz and no dial tone at all.  I remember early on the process of getting this thing to work at all that that was a happy bit of progress... figuring out that the G&B had to be switched.

The buzz now is nothing like that. Its just quiet and in the background. You dont hear it until you dial a number.

It would be better to only connect red and blue when using a modular plug. It should be BR / clip side up

It looks like the green and red wire on your modular plug have been reversed.

You could try if cleaning the contacts helps by moving a piece of course paper up and down between the closed contact.

That buzz may be coming from one of the lines being grounded.
Try eliminating the blue wire at 13 and the yellow at 9. Just use red and green at where they are in the picture.

Seems to help a bit to remove the yellow wire.  The blue makes no difference.  Its still there in the background though, but better.

......SUCCESS!!!  I put BOTH the Y/B on the blue #13 and it stopped!

Karen

Wow that makes SUCH a nice difference!  Thanks all!!
