I won this AE touch tone 3 slot on shopgoodwill.com for 101.01 + 24.76 = 125.77. I've always wanted a touch tone 3 slot. I have couple of single slot TTs & a 1C dial single slots, when I saw this chrome 3 slot TT I figured I NEEDED IT😁, if the price didn't go too high. I just happened to have my iPad opened & remembered that auction was ending that day. I looked & it had 2 minutes left. So it was a last minute bid. I didn't want to pay more than $100.00, so I bid $101.01. After I won, I looked at the bid history & the next closest bid was $101.00🤔😀 the chrome is good. The upper opens with a screw driver but not the vault door. I read the dials are junk🙁 I think it was a good price? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think you got a good deal.

You should put it in the January 2021 Find of the Month.

I don't mind paying $100 for a nice payphone if I can haul it  home.
$25.00 shipping for a 3 slot payphone is cheap.

GREAT Price Gary! Looks to be in really nice shape. Shipping for this seems awfully low, give them instructions on how you want it packed....Doug

I agree, a good price. I had an AE a few years ago, I got it it was all locked with no keys. I was told the take the lower off hope no coin box and remove the lock from the inside.
There was no coin box so it wasn't too bad getting into it.
So try removing the screws from the back, there will be a couple from the other way, you have to try and drill those and hope they back off. And hope there isnt a coin box. Or you have to destroy that to get to the lock.

That's a great price!
I also had no vault key for one of my three-slot phones. From the back, I unscrewed the two screws, then I carefully filed in a notch on the back of the other screws, which are fastened from the inside. Once the notch was deep enough, I was able to turn them to the inside (clockwise) until they dropped in, and then was able to remove the vault housing. Hopefully, there will be a cash box inside. I was able to remove mine as well, without destroying the lid as others have had to do.

That's a great phone Gary! It's the same one I have. My only pay phone. Well worth the $100.

Well bought!

Thank you: Jim, Duffy, Doug, Ken, Mark & Benny😀 I appreciate the input. So Benny, we both have good taste in pay phones😉  I now have 9 payphones, the 8 in my home office/phone room & the one in my phone booth.when I built the backboard for my payphone I had 1 3 slot & one single slot & what I thought was plenty of room for all the payphones I would ever have🤔😜 or so I thought.

Let us know what you find inside when you get the lower housing off.

I will if I get it off. I don't want to destroy the phone, since I can make it a beautiful working phone without getting into the vault.

Screws are replaceable. At the most that's what you may need. The only way you can check for a coin box is to take the upper off and look down the hopper and see if you see chrome in the bottom, or black.
Finding a new lock with a key isn't that hard. Coin boxes are also plentiful.
So you don't need to destroy the set.

Did you read what I posted on how I removed mine? It wasn't all that difficult to create slots in bottoms of the two other screws, basically creating heads. :)

Yes I did Mark & I plan on trying it when I get some spare time so I can be patient. Thanks for the info.

Mine had a few coins jiggling around in the cash can. I was hoping they'd be silver dimes, but nope... just a few 20 year old nickels and one 10 year old dime.  Dang!
I wish I could recall what I did exactly. I know I used some lubricant and got the box out, with the lid, undamaged. Good luck.
