It's been a long time when I've seen this before. In this age, they say that this telephone is old and rarely used now. However, this telephone improves the interface and it looks like a modern one.

I also have this phone, although mine was imported to the US by Archer (now Radioshack).

Was that phone in your hotel?

Sure we do!  I love those NEC phones, would like to get a Type 2 or 4.  Keep an eye out for a Type 3 like mine, or even parts.

the first one looks like a washing machine,

Kyle,
Is that a neutreal gray cord on yours?
In memory of

those phones were manufactured by NEC
I'm also looking for those Type 2, 3 and 4 in antique shops here in Japan
and the payphone, it really looks like a washing machine

Let us know what you find.  I'm curious to find out how available they are in Japan.

Yes. I actually thought all the phones like this model had straight cords until I saw the other one. The dial inside is made by Toshiba, which now makes a lot of TVs.

I wonder if there are any vintage phone collectors clubs in Japan?

I've tried contacting him a couple times, but no response.  He has a very good website and a nice collection.

Hey Ramil, good to hear from you again!  Love the big pink phone!  Seems to be some sort of pay phone eh?  Did you buy these phones?

mienaichizu

I didn't buy it, those phones are still in use at the hotels I stayed
And here's another 1 I saw, looks like a switchboard.
Its on display on a small museum in a very remote village I stayed in the mountains of Japan
I'm so amazed, these Japanese people are so advance even when they are in the mountains, they have telephone connection way back then.

mienaichizu

about the site Remco posted, I ask our tour organizer where it is located and it is somewhere in the southern island of Japan so I might not visit it. Too far from the place I'm staying right now
