Cleaning up some stories, and of course I had to fettle to get it working.
I need some ideas, and whats the right name on this unit?
At least it generates a sudden spark.

Spark gap transmitter. there might be a capacator in the base assy.these have been illegal for almost 100 years. Poor hams might have used a Ford spark coil instead

Yeah, spark-gap transmitters were quickly outlawed when they perfected other forms of tuned transmission, as SGTs create untuned "chaotic" waves which drown out everything else that works on the AM principle...

They basically worked like an AM transmitter in that a tone or voice modulated the signal that goes to the spark, and can be picked up just by switching on an AM radio (no need to fiddle with the tuner though!!), but because the transmissions drown out tuned transmissions, it can annoy other users who are listening to their favourite stations... :D

There's a good TSLOM episode on the radio that features original spark gap transmitters, which is well worth a watch... :)

That TSLOM episode was really interesting...even to a non-techie like me!
