WE 500/554 Dial Mechanism the same?

I think this is the case, but do the 500 and 554 phones use the same dial mechanism, meaning are they interchangable?

They can both have different dials, depending on the years but yes they are interchangeable. I have used a 500 dial in a wall phone before.
