It doesn't appear that he has the jacks reversed, it looks like he just has two line jacks hooked up instead of one line jack, and one handset jack. If he connects the proper jack to the handset wires he should be good to go.

Ah, I just noticed that.  A modular handset jack would have red, white, black, and green.  Whereas the line cord jack is black, red, green and yellow.  I also notice that the red, black, and green wires are not in the same positions as compared with each jack.  So, Jerry, it seems that you need to get a modular handset jack to put on that phone.

I am sure I have one in a junk box somewhere if you need one.

Thank you,  Thank you.  I now have the we 500 operational.  That what happens when you try and plug a round peg in a square hole.. I had the jacks reversed.  Thank you again, I appreciate all the input.
