Probably a machine used in a retail store that has similar parts as a cash register that has an intercom line to someone who made credit decisions.  Probably not a phone used as a reglar phone.  These come up from time to time on e-bay.  I have never seen anyone that had a definitive answer as to the entire use.

Paul,

I should have known you would know.  I was pretty close in my guess.  :)

Possibly literally true, as we live on different coasts.  However, there's no excuse for not having seen my site before!   ;)  (It's been up since 2009.)   ;)

Thanks Bill & Paul.
Now I'm a little less ignorant  ::)

Hey Paul, your site is full of info, I love it.
Many curiosities there.
I'm in Singapore right now, tomorrow I'll go to visit a repair/collector place to see what he have for sale.
I hope to find some old Asiatic's phones... (Telecommunication here was managed by British, so probably not too much Asian stuff)

Thanks
Claudio

Paul,

I have been to your site a million times!  Apparently there is a cubby-hole or two that I haven't seen.  I also refer others to your site all the time.

I will log this in my memory bank for future reference.  :)
