How did we miss the 150th Birthday of this guy??!!

November 14 marked the 150th birthday of the inventor of polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride.

Ok, ok, it's Bakelite and the father of this amazing polymer was Leo Baekeland, born in Belgium in 1863.

Many of us have spent innumerable hours attempting to refinish his wonderful discovery.

It really was the substance that dawned the beginning of "The Plastic Age" in manufacturing.

I love the reason he invented it...."to make money".  Gotta love the guy for his honesty.
