Got a SC candle, with an AE dial, seems normal.
Problem is, every schematic listed in the phone, uses spdt switch stacks.
All my dials have progressive switch stacks.
Anybody know if the switches on an AE dial are inter changeable?
I guess I need to modify my 51 dial to have spdt switches instead of progressive?
Note: the switch on the schematic needs to be closed at rest. mine are open at rest.

It would probably be easier to get the little North Dial.   You can use a WE#4 or #5 dial as they have a pair of contacts that are closed when at rest.  In one of the old AE catalogs it shows different contact arrangements for the AE dials.   On another thought, scrap a set of pulse springs from a crappy dial and substitute those for the shunt springs.

You may need to wire it up different, just let the receiver be wired direcly, and let the dial short out the entire voice circuit when out of rest position, just like Siemens always has done it.   http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=8965.msg95944#msg95944

Is this the circuit you are looking at?

Here is the dial: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203307768970

The Signal Corps dials will work as well.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the help!
This is the schematic that came with the phone.
Sorry it flashed out when I took pics.
added a couple blue ones.
Anyone know which AE dial has a normally closed switch in the stack?
Been lookin at some AE dials on ebay.
Just cant see stacks well enuf to determine if I could just swap the stacks???

That's earlier than I thought.

Can you use the circuit I posted instead? Then you can use the dial I linked to.

The dial shown in your circuit is a Mercedes and will cost somewhat more.

I can't be sure of the contact configuration of either of those dials and the North dial is stuck and requires work anyway.

Your candlestick wiring is the same as the circuit I posted and that works with the AE Type 24 dial I linked to. Assuming you can fit the AE dial, I would go with that option.

I would, but I can't afford another $50 on top of what it already has cost me... :(

rdelius

that sc dial would be a bad chose. Hiltz might change out the switch pile-up for a small charge

the sc dial is made to mount in a recessed hole. if mounted to a flat surface, you would see gaps  . sc dials are poor compaired to ae
