Some kind of relay

Hi.
What is this?  Some type of relay?  Part of a switchboard?  CO?  I've seen these go for what I consider a lot of money on eBay and I don't know why.  Anybody interested?

They are not relays but are repeating coils.

Still erks me...  5 or so years ago I had a repeat coil just like that, only a single one, in my hands at the Dayton hamfest.  The guy wanted $1 for it.  I had no idea what it was, so I didn't get it.  I should have bought it simply because it had a Western Electric decal on the side!  Oh well, I guess.

Hey, Happy belated Birthday Ron! We all hope that you had a Great Birthday party there in Cave Junction Oregon. I am assuming that Cave Junction is a little tiny place when I ask if the town threw you a street party complete with a parade and marching bands etc!  :)
