I was looking forward to the opportunity of adding this to my very small collection.  I have one in Pink and Red in very good condition.   I had asked the seller for a photo from a different angle, perhaps from the top.  I never got a response and 24 hours later the auction ended.  It hasn't been re-listed so I'm just guessing that someone may have made them a deal they couldn't refuse.

The photo is theirs.   I believe it's a 1543W as we discussed in this thread:

But perhaps there IS a 1586 as it reads in the listing.  I don't know enough about them.

There are catalog references to a 1586, but most of the sets reported seem to be 1543s that were converted.

SC doc T-1114, Issue 2, 8/67 lists "the 1586W desk telephone with '500' styling is no longer available as a complete instrument. The parts list on page 8A provides ordering information for replacement parts for existing telephones.  Conversion kits are shown on page 12A."

T-6053, Issue 1 Telephone Refurbishing Kits lists kit ROK-1586.

Your posting explains it very well, Paul.  Thank you.  Now that I looked at your site again regarding this, we may have discussed this on another thread (here) in the past.  You may have referenced that before.  Maybe I'll remember next time I see one.  One doesn't see them too often and the one in the canceled listing looks to be in nice shape.

You're welcome.

I thought the topic sounded familiar.  I'm glad I added more detail this time, so the info isn't redundant.

If anyone has one that's actually marked 1586, please post photos of the bottom plate showing the model number.

I have an SC 1586 in green.  The green casing looks fine, but the dial ring (get this) is actually a STICKER that goes around it!  I don't get it.  As much as I love my 1543 collection, I'd be happy if someone made me an offer for this one.  Haha.  It'd be worth if for the case alone, I suppose, if you had a green 1543 with a cracked case, etc.

I finally ended up with this phone after all.  I was not disappointed.  It is every bit as nice as the eBay photos show it to be.  The ringer is extremely loud!  There isn't a scratch on it.

It was not until you posted that old thread that I recognized this type of phone, your pink and red ones with the longer sweeping front on them. Very nice Dennis! Look forward to seeing your pics of it.

Craig, the seller has some beautiful photos posted here:

Of course they won't be there forever so I'll get some on the forum here eventually.
