Dial Card rescue with Evapo-rust soak

I have used Evapo-rust on oxidized and rusted bases before. I decided to give it a try on this WE classic style dial card purchased on a 1956 Ivory 500. The open finger wheel had an intact acetate disc protecting the card but the card soaked up rust from the underlying nut below.   I tried a few dabs then eventually soaked the whole card in a shallow stainless steel pan.  I swirled the card frequently and the rust was mostly removed in about 5 minutes. I re-soaked in water, pressed flat and dried under a bulb. Evapo-rust claims to not hurt paint or labels---only rust.

BTW, why do these style cards have an oblong and a round perforation across their top and bottom? JC

That process looks like it worked well. Nicely done.

That's a great improvement. I'd never have thought of using a rust removal product on card.
