I picked up this 1957 Western Electric Test Cabinet for $100.00 CDN yesterday. It came out of the Central Office in Port Perry, Ontario. There was something rattling inside, so I opened it up and found 4 mounting bolts and a shirt button.
It now has a new home on the work bench in my garage.

Don't know much about the tester, but I sure do like your garage!

Thanks, that's only the back part of the garage. LOL

Does the unit have an identification number of some sort on it, a model number or practice section number ?

The ID tag had been removed. The only ID I seen is the PT PY 1, but that is the CO ID for Port Perry. A fellow collector sent me some pictures of his test cabinet to show me what the tag should look like. I was told it was a Northern, but the volt gauge shows Western. That is why I called it Western. The last two pictures are of Steve's test cabinet, a fellow collector.

With the pictures of the tag, I should be able to make a copy for my cabinet. Hopefully. :)
I noticed that the gage on mine is different then the other two.

The gauges changed over time; they made these for a long time, better than 30 years, I believe.

If you want to do anything with it, you need circuit descriptions.  Here they are.

- BSP 201-828-505 i2 8202--Local Test Cabinet No3;Test and Trouble Locating Procedures
- CD-96181-01--Local Test Cabinet No3--circuit-description
- SD-96181-01--Local Test Cabinet No3--drawings

These probably came originally from the TCI library.
