When I purchased my BellSouth payphone it came without the two locks on the right side. I eventually purchased the  bottom right lock online but decided not to install the top right lock.  Instead, I went to Lowes Hardware and for just over two dollars I purchased one black plastic plug and one metal chrome plug that were the right size. I decided to use the chrome piece because it matched the phone nicely. I used a toothpick and a little bit of super glue to install it. If I decide at some point to install a lock it should be easy to remove the plug and clean the super glue off of the side of the phone. Two photos are attached.  Mark

I have done that for a barrel lock ( the round security lock) on a 3 slot telephone as well.
It is a clean looking fix.

Yes, that does keep it clean looking. I did the same thing with a 500 I had one time where someone had drilled a hole in the back, presumably for a toggle switch. Only cost a few pennies at the hardware store and it looked fine.
