I am new to this hobby and just acquired a nice Automatic Electric seafoam green model 80 phone.  Question:  How do you attach a number card to the dial?  My phone has a clear dial with a screw in the center and, when you remove the screw, the dial comes off.  Was there some sort of plastic cover that went over the center of the dial that held the number card?  If so, mine is missing and are they hard to get?  Thanks!

Hi Classicradios and welcome to the group.

Your AE80's official color is "Turquoise" which is usually described as Seafoam green.

The last version of AE fingerwheel is the one you are describing. It used a stick on number card and we had sticky back clear plastic stickers that could be put over the number card to protect it once the number was written onto it.

There are other discussions on here somewhere that talk about this and someone probably has number cards that you can print yourself via the web.

As always, everyone on here loves to see pictures of phones!!

I have one just like it.  You can get the stickers here: http://tinyurl.com/yhxdmr5

Briny...those Phoneco stickers are really terrible. Print out a dial card from http://www.telephonearchive.com/   if you don't have the real deal. It would look much more realistic.....Doug

Not sure about the quality of those but that particular design of the AE card is much earlier than what an 80 or 90 should have on it.

Briny;
Good link to Phoneco. They have a lot of great stuff we can use. I just wish they would get there index straight.

My printer won't make a decent looking dial card, and even if it could, the only way to hold it on this particular finger wheel would be to stick the screw through the center of the card, not a good option.  This finger wheel style has no way to hold a paper dial card.

We had rolls of dial tag stickers for those finger wheels. So you print a dial card/tag and glue it on. They were a little smaller diameter than the old type dial cards though.
