....You mean that winning at guessing an auction price isn't part of the entry exam for "the club"?  :P

After checking the phone's closing bid, I have some bad news.  Dan/Panther actually won this week's contest, rather than Tom.  Tom was over, unfortunately, and the winner is the one who is "closest without going over."  The rough part is that Tom was only over by fifty cents, an incredibly close bid!

At any rate, a belated congratulations to Dan/Panther!  And an honorable mention for Tom for only being four bits off. ;)

I won this auction. This particular phone was made with some plastic samples and the previous owner was a young engineer for AE. He won the phone in a hand of pay stub poker.  They assembled the phone from beige guts and used the gold dial and caps because they were they most unusual parts they had access to.

Brinybay was the closest to my guess of winning bid, A bid of $10.00 more than the winning price, would of knocked me out of the auction.

This  is the 3rd Clear AE80 that I know of. and at least 1 of the others has clear caps.

Can you post some more pictures of your phone? Clear phones aren't common, so there's not many pictures of them. You got a great phone  ;D

Thanks  Kyle,
I joined this forum after you posted your intro on the telephone club listservers. Here are a few photos of clear telephones that I have posted on the picture places of TCI and ATCA. Anyone can view these photo sites and there are lots of neat phones shown. The TCI site has an open membership and ATCA is a club member only list.

I found this when I was looking for some clear telephone postings.
Jackson Hole Wyoming 1985 phone book. I was able to get the 25th anniversary edition as well. I can't locate the photo.

Jim:

Can you post a higher resolution picture of the Bonus Card Insert from 1955? I would love to be able to read the card and see the colored phones in better detail.

Thanks in advance.
Jorge

Jorge,
I posted a better scan in a new thread in "Collectors Corner" . It is under  Soft 500 Info.  The ad is there along with some other soft 500 info.

Jim, first of all welcome to our Forum!  The clear telephones are very interesting.  You have a great collection of them.  How long of a period of time has it taken you to accumulate those phones?  Very nice.  Thank you for posting those links.
