Thanks. The early sets are great, with the back painted number rings.

You probably saw this auction?
I think there was a forum discussion about it...(apologies if I'm duplicating info)

phonium

Yes, I saw that auction. I was expecting it to go WAY higher, as not only is it 1/50, it it also in super mint condition.

Yeah, that seems like way to much to me.

Phonium,
A plunger question on these early sets is:
Were the tops of the first clear plungers  flat or rounded ?
If the earliest were flat top, when did they change to rounded ?

This question first came up in the thread regarding D/P's set.
The link is for the start of the thread. There is a section in the topic regarding plungers.

After a small amount of research, it seems that on these early sets the plungers were clear and rounded.

Thanks for the plunger reply.
I think there was a reference found regarding rounded plungers helped keep the plunger holes clear from gathering  crap. and getting stuck.

A bit of an observation with the 1949 bases. 4/49 is older than 7/49, yet the July base has the yellow style base stamp. I wonder why they changed it back to the simplified stamping...
