I'll start my collection off with my clear, see-though or transparent phones. Not sure of what the manufactures formal name is for the non-colour.
1) 1958 Western Electric clear 500 F-53115
2) 1989 Northern Telecom clear Solo (Changed gray handset cord for a clear one.)
3) 1982 Northern Electric clear 2500 e-Phone

WE used the term clear. I suspect Northern did as well.

ITT/Kellogg and SC used the term clear.

I haven't come across the term for smoke tint yet. You may find it in reference to WE Telstar telephones.

My collection of Green's.
Missing a 2500, but I have one coming.
I cleaned out a extra room in the basement that we had been using for storage. I have made it into a phone room and have been slowly moving the phones out of the garage. It is starting to come together. A lot of the big pieces will have to stay in the garage. I guess that means I officially have two man caves. Here is a little tour of what I have done so far.
Next Set.
Another set.
Wow, Doug that is really nice work there. Some real creativity and art in the display ideas. I really like the old NE wooden crate as well!
*! Warning Warning !* I see spaces on shelves.... ;D

Yes you do, I'm not finished moving pieces from the garage yet. And then there is still my trailer. I have phones that are still packed in boxes. :o

That's not mine. It is for a fellow collector, it was picked up in Montreal. I'm just storing it until he picks it up sometime in August.
Made a few changes in the phone room this weekend.
Very nice indeed! I love the payphone desk and chair. Very cool. I do remember them in hotels....Doug
A few additions to the green display.
Green NE T/T Payphone, 2500, punch down tool and a speaker.
In the glass store display case.
Mauve and Black Contempra's.
Tall glass display case.
Encryption Phone.
Doug....I love the green display. Not one that I own......looks very cool....great idea....other Doug
My sister in law thought that I needed curtains for the phone room, so she made some.
I didn't want to take down my Canadian flag, but after it was all said and done. It doesn't look to bad.
Brightens up the room. Now if I can only talk her into doing the dusting. :)
the curtains look good but your storage trailer makes my makes my phone storage area look like a dump :) :)

Really... I think you mean your phone storage area looks like organized chaos!. :)
I loaded the trailer with the pieces I'm taking to the show in Kingston, Ontario Saturday.
Still have a few more things to load up.

Excellent. I'll see you there.
Added a couple more pieces to my green collection.
1971 1035B T/T Dial
1978 NT Dawn Phone
Nice dial and Dawn phone, Duffy.
I've never seen the Dawn in Green before.
Do you know if NE/NT Dawn sets were ever outfitted with modular jacks?
The nameplate looks like it could accommodate a line Jack.
Rototech99
I rearranged my 500/2500 cabinet and played with some photo software. I added a 60's style fame to make it look like a actual picture taken on an old Kodak Brownie.
Next picture I attempted to try and make a store display of coloured 500's. The lighting and backdrop weren't the best.
I love 500 sets. Really there are so many variations on them one could focus solely on them and still have a lifetime of fun. I really love the all green display.
My collection of clears.
Doug....beautiful collection of clears. Thanks for the picture...other Doug
Very complete selection of green phone's, I like those three slotters, and 500 and converted sets, we're those called 3500?

I don't under stand what you mean by Converted sets?
I added the orange upside down logo Contempra to my Contempra display.
Nice touch putting the number card in upside down
Addition of a shorter operator chair.
One of my Gray Pay Stations.
Looks like it was never used. Beautiful.....Doug
Did some rearranging of the phone room. Moved some pictures to the stairwell leading into the phone room. Rearranged phones and hung some 3 slot payphones.
It looks great duffy.
Wonderful. So much history down there, you could open to the public and have special guided tour days.
....but first, room for just one more Princess.... :)

Yes, she has already spoken, There is to be nothing to go beyond the stairwell. ;)
I've heard that before, "Nothing goes beyond the basement" I made it to the stairwell!
Now to try and conquer the main floor! :)
Did a little rearranging.
Looks good Doug !

Thanks Jeff
I'm sure you will notice the change the next time you're here. ;)
To celebrate all your work rearranging, here is a virtual Duff Beer (Avatar) on me. :)
I really like that Bell four story display unit, what's the story behind that? Is the Bell sign underneath part of the unit?

Wow thanks! It's now part of my screensaver!
The stand is a retail store stand from a now defunct Sears department store.
I picked it up from Habitat For Humanity ReStore for $50.00 CDN, $38.17 USD or 34.38 Euro in your case.
They had two, but I only had room for the one.
The Bell sign is from a phone booth and it just happen to fit the base. :)
Northern Electric Uniphones No. 1 desk set and No. 2 wall set in Burled Walnut with the HU handsets. The wall phone has a Siemens #10 dial and the desk phone has a Northern Electric 5H dial.
Beautiful set, these are one of my favorites. I just love the color, especially with a lot of light on them. The burled walnut is just so cool looking!
Any idea why the vast majority of these sets were black?...Doug

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that question.
I would guess it's probably the same reason so many WE 500's are in Black. Black was the standard color. The color phones were special order and more expensive to rent.
My 1989 Northern Telecom Symphony Engineering sample. This is a pale green colour with speckles that never made it to market.
My Buttset's
The Bell Telephone Company of Canada
Central Office Plaques
Solid Bronze and Nickle Plated Brass.
Circa 1947
Very nice Doug...I like the clear buttset with the old pin dial, never seen one like it....other Doug
Bell Telephone Operator Chairs. Tall one and a short one.
1930's Gray Pay Station 150 LJ
Northern Electric clock that I have had for some time! :)
1962 Northern Electric Manual 200-C
I sold my walk up booth and green NE 233. Rearranged the phone room again.

So that's what that was. That always caught my eye in your photos, always liked it. Good display and practical as was useable too. Sorry to see it gone but my other little favourite display unit does look really nice in it's place. Makes that corner of the room come together nicely.

Thanks Fab,
The booth and payphone went to another collector who is just starting his man cave. He also bought 4 other payphones from me.
These phones were all my doubles except the Red and Black one. They went to a good home.
1) Northern Electric Centurion
2) Automatic Electric Black and Red LPC 86 55
3) Northern Electric Black 233H
4) Northern Electric Beige 233QF
My NE 317 with a Gray 11J Paystation.
