I have a Pioneer SX-636 stereo receiver for sale. $30. This model is rated at 25 wpc (watts per channel) and dates to the mid 1970s. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition. Has all knobs. One channel of the two does not work. I have checked and found that:

1)Power supply voltages are good.

2)Main power supply measures low ac ripple, as it should.      Indicating power supply capacitors are good.

3) Right channel is out. Output transistors are good so I suspect the problem is a bad transistor/s in the driver stage.

4) I'd recommend electrolytic recapping especially in the signal path.

This is a heavy item so I will probably send by FedEx. I don't charge to make a profit on shipping. Shipping cost will be based on buyer's location.

This link gives info and specs on this receiver, courtesty of

Tom,

Is that 25 watts per channel RMS or peak power?

I had one of these for many years - a nice receiver. It is probably still in one of my storage areas...

The direct-coupled OCL power amplifier provides continuous power output of 25 watts per channel, min RMS at 8 ohms from 20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz with no more than 0.5% total harmonic distortion.

I just have had this unit rebuilt so it's not available anymore., (re-cap, bad transistors replaced and incandescent bulbs replaced with LEDs)). Sounds great!

I'd love to have one of those to go with my PL-400 turntable, unfortunately, people with more money than sense have out-priced these to well beyond my pricerange sadly... :(
