I have very few 'foreign' 'phones, but I recently bought a German one on Ebay:

I know very little about it.  On the bottom it's marked:

POST FeTAp 661-2a

BP De Te We p 03.77

e 21

Anybody know anything about it?

I quite like it.  It looks quite modern, but doesn't seem to be very well made.  It's very light, and the dial doesn't feel very good.  A small flap at the back, held by a single screw conceals the plugs which connect the cords, and a blanking plug which fits into what seems to be a RJ-11 shaped hole, but there are no contacts in it.

The line cord is probably almost long enough to reach to Germany from here; I've never seen one so long.

The dial is sticking a bit, but getting better with exercise.

I always try to keep original type cords and plugs on collectable 'phones, so I'm gong to need to order one of these:

Which will fit the plug which is on it.  This is lucky, as it is the only adapter from a German plug which I can find, whereas going the other way there sem to be no less than five different German plugs:

yes, that phone is German made. It is the model Fe Ap 61 (1961) of the German Bundespost which is similar to the T65 of the Dutch PTT

It looks like I'm going to have to re-think the German adapter thing.

http://tinyurl.com/cby75n  is the only place I have been able to find it, and it's only about $10, but for that, and a similar French one, the shipping charge to the UK varies between about $59, and almost twice that, depending on which service I want.  $40-50 shipping for a telephone is bad enough, but this is ridiculous.

The variety of German adapters kind of surprises me.  I know it's a cliche' but I would expect more standardization from Germany. ???
