So last week I excitedly won a shop-goodwill auction for an early Dietz D-Lite lantern. The pictures were not all that great but it looked like it mainly had surface rust, so if figured I could handle that well enough. The critical detail here is I initially bid on the item using my smartphone during my lunch break.....big mistake.

Upon getting the "your item has shipped" email, I figured I'd look at the lantern again on my computer. Looking at one picture in particular, I could just make out the bottom of one of the air tubes was rotted away...darn.

So, undaunted I will try and rebuild this poor lantern and see what can be done. I have tools, random materials all about from work, and blind enthusiasm. Pictures will be up when it arrives.
