This is my first clear, a Stromberg Carlson 1191 which slots beautifully into my 'Sepia' theme.

The No.1191 has a ringer, which I believe is a hard find - a clear more so.

I found mention on here that these clears were only made available by Stromberg Carlson as factory specials:
http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=23279  (see also screenshot below).

Good original cords. No damage. One endcap missing.
I have a 1197 in black so hope to form a mold to make a colour matched replacement.

I'll enjoy restoring this cute little phone back to it's former glory. All it needs is a thorough clean inside and out and the mechanics checking over, which I'll enjoy doing. I have a good selection of quality polishes that will bring the finish up a treat.

Any additional info you guys can tell me about the clear No.1191 would be greatly appreciated as it is not a model I am familiar with.

If I have written anything incorrect, I'm sure you guys will put me right.

CJ...that is a beauty. The bases usually warp badly.

I didn't notice the cap missing until the last pic, probably got to loose. Excellent find.

Displays great!...Doug

WOW! Great find CJ. That is not an easy one to get, I have only ever seen one other. Congrats. I am looking forward to seeing it after you work your restoration magic on it.

Crikey. I had no idea, but I'm very pleased to add it to the collection. It will be well looked after.

I have been trying to find out what I can about it. Just discovered it's 1198 cousin was subject of a CRPF Auction Contest back in 2017 (that one missing it's dial and base):

I did not remember that one in the contest. In much worse shape than yours, incomplete and still sold for over $700.00! IIRC there is one more on here that one of the members found so that makes 3.

IIRC the domed dial blank is the ringer, correct?

The ringer is underneath the dome, where a dial or dial blank would normally be.

I find it remarkable that a telephone made of that material has held up so well.  I collect old radios , and in many cases the Tenite grille escutcheons, knobs, levers and bezels are at least somewhat distorted and some look as pristine as fried bacon or potato chips (crisps).

Is it under the dome or is the dome a part of it? Got pictures?

The ringer is incorporated with the dial blank, like this....Doug
