Title: Mounting a 354
Post by: Kenny C on June 26, 2011, 09:50:47 PM
I was mounting my 354 to my backboard in the kitchen last night and was having a hard time putting the housing back on. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a special trick?

The trick is to not take a 354 housing off its base!  I have had this problem with a couple of my 354s, it is due to shrinkage. Use a hair-dryer.  If that doesn't work, try heating it in the oven for 5-10 minutes on warm, on my oven that's 170 degrees.   REMEMBER TO SET THE TIMER!!!  The housing should be hot to the touch but not so much that you cannot touch it for long. (if you have an ice pack, put that on the metal part of the base for about 30 seconds without touching the housing) This should shrink it just enough to pop on the expanded housing and line up correctly.  Screw the housing screws in quickly,  I would put the base in the oven as well as you will not be able to screw the phone to the base while it is hot.

I've never had a shrinkage problem. Is this common?
