I am starting to work on my SC1157, and I would like to remove and clean the North dial without breaking anything.  Can anyone tell me how to remove the number card retainer?  Also, the dial wires are soldered on both ends (to the contacts on the dial and the contacts on the terminal strip in the phone.  Is this normal?

Thank You

My dial is largely dismantled at the moment, but it looks just like the one in the SC1157 that Dennis bought almost two years ago: http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2262.0;attach=11195;image.
