Hi All:

I just wanted to post a photo of my 1D2 single slot minutes after unpacking (God, I hate Packing Peanuts) as I was beginning to clean it up. There was some very interesting Chicago graffiti which thankfully was done in pencil on the side.

Oh, A green one! That's nice.

There's another one on the way as well as of today. I substituted Instruction Cards for Packing Peanuts.....Sorry.

Hi Terry:

Super. Thanks. There had to be a large green garbage bag full of packing peanuts in with this one! Argggh! I literally resorted to digging it out with a snow shovel!

Peanuts everywhere.

I should have taken a photo of the lovely Chicago (Lawndale) lady sketched on its side before I removed it. I couldn't have posted it, though! I would have to think she must have been very cold on a blustery winter day!

Thanks!

Hi Pholks:

Just a little update this morning.

Last night, I finished cleaning up the phone, and took it over to the museum this morning.

Once on the test bench, I replaced two spade connectors which were missing, then set it up on my BK tester. It performs great. All I have to do now is to re-install its locks, and mount it on its backboard. I may also decide to change the handset -  the blue grommet at the phone end is degrading from use, so for display, I may decide to change it.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Incidentally, if anyone is wondering, this phone is zoo fresh from Lawndale, and required no modifications to use on a normal line.

Very nice phone! If I'm ever out in PEI again, I'm going to visit your museum!

I have a green one just like that, but I put one of the gray handsets on mine.  I think the green single slots are really neat looking phones.

I have a 1C2.

What's the difference, none cosmetically as far as I can see?

I am sure if I sat down with the manuals that came with it I would discover the differences. I don't have a 1C2 to compare it with. One visual difference, I think is the kind of plug coming from the relay. I believe on the 1C2 it is octal?

And in reply to a message from Canuckphoneguy (or anyone else), just let me know you are coming, and I will let you have a tour. I never charge anyone!

The two old switchers from Island Tel who were down yesterday were fascinated! They both worked on the cut-over from the old Summerside Strowger switch to DMS in 1988, and were bringing down some switches they had saved from the exchange. They couldn't believe how much there was to see!

Hi Johnny:

Your phone, I think is outfitted with one of Payphone.com's early coinless boards.  You will no doubt find no coin relay in it - only a hopper, and the old board is missing. However, it serves its purpose, and will display really well.

It looks as it it started out life as a standard single slot.

The chrome is hard to keep clean! I have both the WE and the AE set up on lines from my Panasonic KSU - they work great with them!
