New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed April 4th, this phone came to the forum's attention thanks to a post by Doug Rose. Saw the post this morning but didn't have time to work up a contest. This pre-war green 302 was listed in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $59.99. Over the first 3 days of the auction, the phone received 4 bids from 4 bidders driving the price up to a nice round $111.11. I'm thinking there has to be an upside to this contest but how much is the question. So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the actions ends?

NOTE:  This is a mid auction contest start , only 4 of 7 days left in the auction which leaves only 3 days to get your guesses in from this initial topic posting.

The seller listed it as an "Green Vintage Western Electric Model 302 Rare Telphone Art Deco 10/41 Dated " with the item condition as "Used" and "Hard to Find Color" with the auction listing description saying "Here Is A Very Sweet Western Electric Telephone. Dated 10/41. Very Nice Condition. Small Crack In The Ear Piece Replacable Piece. Not Tested (no Land Line..Who Has One?) I Am Sure It Does Work. They Made Stuff To Last Back Then . . .    Pics Show Well"

NOTE: we will use a 3% gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, guess gaps of 6+% can be split. I'll help with these as the auction goes forward and guesses are entered.

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list,

. . . for as twocvbloke said,   ---> "You gotta be in it to win it !!!" ;D "

Bad lighting AND a bad background. The camera does it's best to capture a true picture but putting a green phone on a red background and then using a flash is not the way to do it. Background does have an affect on the image captured. I white or 17% grey background would have been best in natural light without a flash. Look at the base shot. The phone looks yellow, with the camera trying to compensate between the black and the red. Even Photoshop didn't know how to fix that color problem. I tried to get rid of as much background as I could and Photoshop still could not show a good color for the phone. As Doug said, a few of the photos show the darker green most likely closer to the real color or the phone.
